Terrestrial Energy said Williams will lead its customer, partnership and contracting strategy, working with company leadership to move commercial opportunities into IMSR plant projects and to expand its project pipeline with utilities, industrial energy users and project developers.

Irish described Williams as a nuclear and power industry veteran and said Williams will work with partners to advance the company’s pipeline of commercial projects.

Terrestrial Energy said Williams brings four decades of experience across the power sector, including roles with a utility, an independent power developer, and engineering, procurement and construction contractors. Most recently, the company said, he served as vice president of commercial nuclear business development at Kiewit Nuclear Solutions, where he worked on small modular and large reactor projects across North America. Terrestrial Energy also said Williams previously spent 15 years at Fluor Corporation, ultimately as vice president of sales for its global power business, and began his career in nuclear design engineering at Duke Power.

Terrestrial Energy describes itself as a developer of Generation IV nuclear plants powered by its IMSR technology, and says its IMSR plant is designed to supply high-temperature heat and electricity for industrial applications.
