The Very Good Food Company (VERY) has commissioned its first product line of low-processed, plant-based meat alternatives.

The announcement was made as the company “butchered” its first bean at the newly renovated Rupert production facility in Vancouver.

The plant-based food technology company took possession of the 45,000 square foot facility in January 2021 in order to meet high customer demand from both its eCommerce and retail channels.

Mitchell Scott, CEO of The Very Good Food Company, commented on the announcement.

“Bringing the Rupert facility online, as scheduled, is a major milestone for our business,” he said.

“Once we are fully operational, we will be able to quickly and substantially scale our food production in order to meet consumer demand.”

The facility has undergone minor upgrades and retrofitting to accommodate the new production requirements.

Following these upgrades, the first production line is officially operational and the company is conducting trial runs.

The company also announced today that it has appointed Ana Silva, the company’s president, to its board of directors.

The Very Good Food Company is an emerging plant-based food technology company that uses progressive food technology to create plant-based meat and other food products.

The Very Good Food Company (VERY) is up 2.20 per cent and is trading at C$5.10 per share as of 10:27 am ET.
