While investing in commodities central to global commerce is a sound strategy, supposing you’re after inflation hedges, as well as exposure to essential industries with long-term tailwinds, holding a share of metals or minerals in a vault doesn’t generate value, merely tapping your portfolio into economic sentiment surrounding your chosen commodities. In this scenario, returns are directly tied to what the market thinks a commodity is worth, putting you at risk of enduring stretches of a decade or more where appreciation fails to present itself.

A more prospective solution here is to take value-creation into your own hands by investing in mining stocks, whose underlying companies discover and delineate mineral deposits, develop them into mines and eventually extract saleable commodities out of the ground, in each case potentially growing asset bases and creating leverage beyond commodity price appreciation, often delivering exponential returns.

This article is disseminated in partnership with Nevada Sunrise Metals Corp. It is intended to inform investors and should not be taken as a recommendation or financial advice.

Drawing on common sense, we can de-risk your due diligence and increase the conviction of your investable mining universe by keeping an eye on fundamentals, combining microeconomy and macroeconomy into a unified investing approach. In practice, this means 1) focusing on commodities with evidence for durable long-term demand, 2) pursuing that demand through high-quality assets primed to deliver positive news flow for years to come, and 3) tying it all together with a leadership team well-versed in translating geological prospectivity into shareholder value.

Introducing Nevada Sunrise Metals

A junior mining company squarely aligned with this approach is Nevada Sunrise Metals (TSX:NEV)(OTCQB:NVSGF), market cap C$4.42 million, an explorer active in Nevada, 2025’s most attractive exploration district, according to the Fraser Institute, that combines a seasoned leadership team, an early-stage portfolio prospective for two of the world’s most in-demand commodities and a stock that’s lost 50 per cent since 2021, granting investors a high-conviction value thesis.

Gold

Given’s the world’s currently elevated state of tension, reflecting ongoing wars, distrust between economic superpowers and constant disruptions from the Trump administration – including tariffs and an escalating war with Iran – all of which is serving to deepen a sense of nationalism and fragment global trade, it’s no surprise that investors have been steadily increasing their allocations to gold over the past few years, vying to tap into its ability to hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty and preserve long-term portfolio value.

Supported by retail and institutional buying alike, including central banks adding an average of more than 1,000 tons since 2022, double their average over the past decade, the price of gold has appreciated by more than 120 per cent over the past five years, with the global market expected to compound at a respectable 5.1 per cent through 2030, driven by more efficient mining methods, a growing middle class, an expanding list of healthcare and technological applications, as well as the metal’s multi-century association as a store of value.

The Griffon gold mine project

Nevada Sunrise’s flagship asset when it comes to capitalizing on strong gold demand is the 1,780-acre Griffon mine project, located about 50 kilometres southwest of Ely, in White Pine County, Nevada, along the southern extension of the Battle Mountain-Eureka gold trend, one of the world’s richest gold districts, which is host to both past-producing and operating gold mines, as well as numerous significant gold deposits.

The past-producing project, on which the company holds a 100-per-cent option, was mined from two open pits by Alta Gold from 1998 to 1999, yielding about 62,661 ounces of gold through a heap-leach process, offering a glimpse into how Griffon is earning its place among several geologically similar mines collectively representing more than 2 million ounces in resources and reserves (see slide 11 of the company’s June 2026 investor deck).

Nevada Sunrise has strengthened its thesis about Griffon’s vastly untapped potential since optioning the project in 2025, homing in on multiple gold horizons across the land package, supported by:

VRIFY is in the process of integrating survey data into an updated project model, keen to build upon the property’s scant geophysics, besides a 2012 gravity survey by Pilot Gold (now Liberty Gold), and help leadership refine drill targets in preparation for a future campaign.

The Fivemile gold project

Nevada Sunrise complements Griffon’s data-driven upside with the 5,496-acre Fivemile project, which is located in the Battle Mountain-Eureka-Cortez gold belt on Bureau of Land Management land, and shares geology, geophysics and structural features with Barrick Mining’s Fourmile deposit – one of the century’s top gold discoveries – hosting an estimated 2.6 million ounces indicated and 13 million ounces inferred, while offering numerous avenues for future expansion.

Fivemile’s geophysical signature, characterized by the conjunction of a gravity high anomaly and a magnetic low anomaly – a tell-tale sign of shallow epithermal gold-silver deposits – mirrors a gravity high associated with Fourmile and the Goldrush deposit to the northeast, both no more than 10 km away, with the latter forming part of the 25-million-ounce Cortez Complex operated under Barrick and Newmont’s Nevada Gold Mines joint venture.

Next steps for Fivemile, currently under a 79 per cent option, include gravity and magnetic surveys, drill target definition and eventual drill testing to paint a clearer picture of the project’s geophysical signature, all of which will be guided by a recently completed ionic leach soil geochemical survey yielding 300 samples pending analysis by Reno-based ALS Global Laboratories.

Copper

Unlike gold, whose utility is concentrated in jewelry and investment, copper plays an essential role in technologies at the center of daily life, including electrical grids, renewable energy and the burgeoning AI data center space, with a report from S&P Global seeing copper demand climbing by 50 per cent from 28 million tons in 2025 to 42 million tons by 2040.

That said, without a steady pipeline of new mines, the report goes on to posit the risk of a 10-million-ton shortfall by 2040, reflecting growing demand and tightening supply, which has lifted the copper price by 51 per cent year-over-year to US$6.60 per pound, down from an all-time-high of US$6.67 in June, bolstering the analyst consensus that further price increases lie ahead as AI data center buildouts ramp up through the end of the decade. According to the International Energy Agency, data centers will more than double their electricity consumption to 945 terawatt-hours by 2030, which is more than all of Japan utilizes today.

The Coronado copper project

It’s within copper’s steeply diverging supply-demand environment, highlighted by the US recognizing the metal as a critical mineral in November 2025, that Nevada Sunrise is advancing its 3,040-acre Coronado project, 48 km southeast of Winnemucca, Nevada, as a potential means of shoring up the domestic supply chain.

Coronado, under a 100-per-cent option agreement, is located over an interpreted trend adjacent to the historic Big Mike open-pit copper mine, where a 1969 resource estimate by Cerro Corp. delineated 634,000 tons grading 3.41 per cent copper, including 74,000 tons of massive sulphide ore grading 11.78 per cent copper. Ranchers Exploration and Development Company proceeded to usher an open pit to production in 1970, yielding about 25 million pounds of copper from ore grading 10.5 per cent copper that was sold to smelters in Japan and West Germany.

Nevada Sunrise added substance to Coronado’s strategic location with a Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (EM) survey in 2018, identifying conductive anomalies to the north and south suggesting the presence of several copper deposits across the district-scale land package. The company followed up these findings with ground geological work in September 2018, confirming the presence of features consistent with the surface expression of a buried copper deposit, as well as initial drilling later in the year that intercepted sulphides and alteration suggestive of EM anomalies.

A 2019 gravity survey added another prospective layer to Coronado’s exploration upside, outlining zones of low gravity, coincident with the EM anomalies, interpreted to represent weathered caps of flat-lying or gently dipping copper mineralization.

Geochemical sampling followed in October 2020, identifying a cluster of strong anomalies above the Coronado South EM anomaly, which the company intends to examine further, in conjunction with the Coronado North EM anomaly, through future drilling and surveys.

A leadership team of proven mining-industry lifers

Nevada Sunrise’s strategically located projects, brimming with latent upside, are in the hands of a long-tenured leadership team, whose generational executive, geological, project management and mineral exploration experience make it no stranger to fostering value across the full mining lifecycle. Let’s meet key members now:

Supported by an all-around team of mining professionals, as comfortable in the board room as they are in the field, and a recently closed C$1.055 million private placement, most of which will go towards exploration and options payments, the company is in an ideal position to continue delineating gold and copper mineralization across its portfolio in preparation for drilling, further substantiating the case for its falling stock being irrationally out of sync with future value-creation potential.

A plethora of exploration upside at an undervalued price

Despite an abundance of data supporting follow-up exploration compiled over the better part of the past decade, including past production, robustly mineralized neighbors and meticulous mapping, surveying and sampling, investors have yet to recognize Nevada Sunrise’s de-risked path to uncovering additional mineralization, cutting the stock by half over the past five years.

Although determining the reasons behind this price-potential dislocation is more art than science, we can point to a handful of candidates that may clarify the matter, such as:

Regardless of the ultimate causes, Nevada Sunrise’s value proposition, as we’ve delineated in this article, is a sound one, grounded in highly-prospective projects tapped into gold and copper’s long-term tailwinds.

This means that an investment today, reflective of unwarranted pessimism, grants you exposure to the company’s years of diligent development at a significant discount, with cash in the bank and only 126.26 million shares outstanding offering leadership the flexibility to fund future developments while conserving shareholder value.

While there’s no such thing as certainty in the mining industry, investors can prosper by aligning their portfolios with companies embodying the highest probabilities for success. And given Nevada Sunrise’s strategic choice of commodities, projects and leadership team, the junior miner makes a strong case for deserving a spot on this exclusive list.
