Traction Uranium (CSE:TRAC) has announced the start of a diamond drilling program at the Aurora Uranium Project in Saskatchewan’s prolific Athabasca Basin region, marking a significant step in its efforts to advance exploration and potentially earn a majority interest in the property.

The exploration campaign will consist of approximately 800 metres of diamond drilling across four to six holes, targeting a series of shallow conductive anomalies identified through recent airborne geophysical surveys. Cosa Resources Corp., Aurora’s owner and operator, is conducting the program, with Traction Uranium funding all exploration costs under the terms of an option agreement signed on February 10, 2026.

Under the agreement, Traction has the opportunity to earn up to an 80% interest in the Aurora Project by funding a total of C$9.15 million in exploration expenditures and completing a series of cash and share payments.

The current drill program is focused on evaluating conductive targets first identified through Cosa’s 2024 airborne VTEM electromagnetic survey. Exploration teams have further refined target selection using gravity and magnetic data, along with results from a high-resolution magnetic and radiometric survey completed across the property in July 2026.

A key aspect of the program is the presence of radiometric anomalies associated with several of the identified targets. Three of the four principal target areas contain radiometric signatures interpreted as potential uranium-bearing sources located down-ice from the conductive anomalies, providing encouraging indicators for uranium mineralization.

Among the priority targets is A1, located in the southwestern portion of the property. Drilling there will test a northeast-trending conductive feature positioned adjacent to a uranium-source radiometric anomaly. Importantly, geologists do not expect Athabasca sandstone cover in this area, potentially allowing for more direct testing of basement-hosted mineralization.

Another high-priority area, Target A2, lies in the northern section of the project and features a conductive response coincident with several interpreted magnetic lineaments. Approximately 30 metres of sandstone cover is believed to be present at this target, while multiple radiometric anomalies have been identified down-ice, adding further exploration interest.

The remaining planned drill targets, A4 and A5, consist of curved conductive trends situated near structural lineaments interpreted from magnetic and Z-Tipper Electromagnetic data. Both targets are positioned close to the mapped edge of the Athabasca Basin and up-ice of radiometric anomalies that may be linked to uranium-bearing sources.

In addition to drilling, the exploration team plans to conduct ground-based follow-up work on selected radiometric anomalies across the property. The objective will be to better understand the source of the anomalous readings and support future target ranking and exploration planning.

“This is the first drilling at Aurora in more than four decades, and it’s being carried out by a Cosa team with a strong discovery track record in the Athabasca Basin,” Traction’s CEO, Jared Suchan, said in a news release. “We’re testing shallow conductive targets, several with nearby interpreted uranium-source radiometric anomalies, and we look forward to updating shareholders as results come in.”

The Aurora Project is situated within Saskatchewan’s world-renowned Athabasca Basin, a region recognized for hosting some of the highest-grade uranium deposits globally. As demand for nuclear energy continues to grow amid global decarbonization efforts and energy security concerns, exploration activity across the basin has intensified, with companies seeking new uranium discoveries to help meet future supply requirements.

Traction Uranium is a Calgary, Alberta-based mineral exploration company focused on the development of uranium prospects in Canada.

Traction Uranium stock (CSE:TRAC) opened trading 3.23% lower at $0.90 but has risen more than 30% since the year began.
