Origen Resources has begun fieldwork at its 100 per cent owned Los Sapitos Lithium Project in Argentina.

The company said field teams will begin sampling at four priority areas within the project. This follows up on the discovery of production-grade lithium from a previous brine sample.

Origen Resources said it is targeting a collection of brine, inflow water and clays.

The Los Sapitos Lithium project was discovered by the same technical team that discovered the Marianas Lithium project in Argentina, which will be soon put into production by Gangfeng Lithium.

“Our experience in Argentina indicates we have an opportunity to discover lithium brines, clays and even pegmatites,” Thomas Hawkins, managing director of Origen Resources, said in a statement. “This initial work will guide our upcoming airborne/satellite program, to identify surface targets and map underlying geology.”

The Los Sapitos Lithium project tis located in the northern region of the San Juan Province in Argentina.

The project contains 26,962 hectares that include contiguous exploration licenses and a lithium-rich brine occurrence.

Once the company completes this field work, Origen will conduct gravity surveys, additional geochemical programs and airborne/satellite exploration.

Origen aims to begin initial drill testing in Q4 2023.

Shares of Origen Resources (ORGN) are up 8.33 per cent to C$0.26 as of 11:48 a.m. EDT.
