Ventripoint Diagnostics (TSXV:VPT) is intensifying its commercial rollout of VMS+ 4.0, an FDA-cleared, artificial intelligence-powered cardiac imaging platform, by expanding subscription-based access and hospital engagement programs to accelerate adoption across healthcare systems.

The company announced that it is broadening its Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) offering, allowing qualified hospitals and cardiac programs to access VMS+ through annual subscription agreements rather than relying solely on traditional capital equipment purchases.

This article is a journalistic opinion piece that has been written based on independent research. It is intended to inform investors and should not be taken as a recommendation or financial advice.

The strategy is designed to address one of the most common challenges hospitals face when evaluating new medical technologies: lengthy procurement processes and constrained capital budgets.

“Hospitals can recognize the value of a technology long before it fits neatly into a capital budget,” Ventripoint’s president and CEO, Hugh MacNaught, said in a news release. “Our subscription model is designed to reduce that friction. It gives qualified hospitals another path to evaluate and implement VMS+ without relying solely on a large upfront equipment purchase.”

Shifting toward recurring revenue

Ventripoint said it is targeting an approximately 80/20 mix favouring subscription-based deployments while continuing to offer conventional capital-purchase options for organizations that prefer outright ownership.

Under the subscription model, hospitals receive installation services, onboarding support, clinical training, software updates, and ongoing technical assistance as part of the package.

The move reflects a broader trend in healthcare technology, where software and imaging vendors are increasingly offering flexible access models to reduce upfront costs and accelerate implementation.

AI-driven cardiac imaging

At the center of Ventripoint’s growth strategy is VMS+ 4.0, a platform that uses artificial intelligence and the company’s proprietary knowledge based reconstruction technology to transform standard echocardiography images into three-dimensional models and quantitative measurements of all four chambers of the heart.

The software is designed to enhance traditional heart ultrasound examinations by providing advanced volumetric analysis, including ventricular volume and ejection fraction measurements, without requiring hospitals to replace existing ultrasound systems.

One of the key challenges in cardiac imaging has been accurately assessing complex heart structures, particularly the right ventricle, using conventional two-dimensional ultrasound techniques. Ventripoint says its platform addresses that limitation through AI-assisted three-dimensional reconstruction.

The latest version of VMS+ also incorporates AI-assisted point placement technology intended to streamline workflow and improve efficiency for sonographers and clinicians.

Regulatory and industry recognition

VMS+ 4.0 received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance in 2025 and has regulatory approvals in Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.

The platform also earned a 2026 Gold Edison Award in the Precision Health Technologies category, providing additional validation as Ventripoint seeks broader commercial adoption.

According to the company, the system is designed to deliver MRI-comparable volumetric cardiac measurements through the more accessible and widely available ultrasound workflow, potentially expanding access to advanced cardiac assessment in community and regional healthcare settings.

Growing clinical momentum

The commercial expansion comes amid increasing exposure for the technology across multiple healthcare initiatives.

In July, VMS+ was selected for the AIRES (Artificial Intelligence Reconstruction of Echocardiography Study) project led by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust in the United Kingdom. The National Health Service describes the initiative as the world’s first study evaluating AI-enabled heart ultrasound technology specifically in oncology patients.

The study will focus on monitoring cardiac function in patients undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer and is expected to include more than 500 echocardiography scans. Researchers will assess whether artificial intelligence can improve the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of cardiac monitoring. The study remains ongoing, and no clinical conclusions have yet been reported.

Exploring remote healthcare opportunities

Ventripoint is also exploring opportunities beyond traditional hospital settings.

The company recently signed a memorandum of understanding with UniDoc Health Corp. to evaluate integrating VMS+ into connected-care and remote assessment infrastructure. If advanced through future agreements, the initiative could improve access to cardiovascular screening and imaging services in rural, remote, Indigenous, and underserved communities.

Such applications could broaden the reach of advanced cardiac imaging without requiring patients to travel to specialized medical centers.

Focus on ease of use

Ventripoint believes workflow integration will be critical to commercial success.

The company highlighted results from a formal human factors and usability study involving 13 cardiac sonographers and healthcare professionals using VMS+ 3.0. According to reported findings, participants achieved a 98% task completion rate with no critical errors identified, while completing a typical workflow in approximately 15 minutes.

Tasks included image acquisition, analysis, three-dimensional visualization, and reporting in a simulated clinical environment.

Those findings, combined with new AI-assisted workflow features in VMS+ 4.0, are intended to support adoption among busy cardiac imaging departments.

Prognosis positive

As Ventripoint transitions from product development and regulatory milestones toward commercial execution, the company said its priorities include increasing hospital evaluations and demonstrations, expanding subscription access, strengthening training and onboarding programs, and growing distributor and clinical partnerships.

VMS+ technology is currently used in hospitals across North America and Europe. Meanwhile, Ventripoint has submitted VMS+ 4.0 for regulatory approval in China through strategic partner Lishman Global, where the application has been accepted into the National Medical Products Administration’s expedited “green channel” review process.

With a growing emphasis on subscription access and increasing visibility through clinical research and connected-care initiatives, Ventripoint is working to position VMS+ as a scalable solution for healthcare providers seeking advanced cardiac imaging capabilities using the ultrasound systems they already own.
