Vertical Aerospace has chosen CAE (CAE) as its pilot training partner for its VX4 aircraft.

Vertical Aerospace is pioneering electric aviation. It boasts pre-orders for more than 1,400 aircraft from customers including American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Japan Airlines.

The zero-operating-emissions VX4 is projected to travel over 100 miles at up to 200 mph with minimal noise and a low cost per passenger mile.

CAE will design and develop the training program leveraging mixed reality and AI.

Vertical and CAE will collaborate for three years ahead of the VX4’s estimated 2025 entry into service.

Vertical expects several critical certification milestones in the coming months as the VX4’s test flight program begins this summer.

The partnership anticipates demand for pilots for inner-city and regional electric flights.

“CAE’s longstanding training relationships with top-tier airlines and operators is a key differentiator for us as they expand into eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) operations with Vertical,” stated Nick Leontidis, CAE’s Group President, Civil Aviation. “They know they can count on CAE for advanced training as they venture into this new market.”

CAE offers simulation training and critical operations support solutions for pilots, airlines, health care practitioners and defence and security forces.

CAE (CAE) is up by 1.98 per cent trading at $33.40 per share as of 1:31 pm EST.
