WeedMD (TSXV:WMD) has finished planting over 18,000 cannabis plants at its 27-acre outdoor field in Strathoy, Ontario.
The freshly planted cannabis, which will be a fall harvest, lies in a field adjacent to the company’s modern greenhouse. WeedMD is one of only a few licensed producers currently entering its second year of outdoor operations.
The company has also announced progress in other areas, including its CX Industries extraction hub. WeedMD stated that the hub in Aylmer is now fully operational and extracting biomass into new cannabis formats.
The biomass being extracted at the hub is rich in cannabinoids and harvested from both indoor and outdoor crops.
WeedMD is currently producing vape cartridges for medical cannabis products. The company already has plans for an initial launch of the products through WeedMD’s and Starseed’s medical channels.
The medical vape products will launch in the week of June 22, 2020. Later in 2020’s third quarter, WeedMD’s Colour Cannabis brand will expand the vape products into the adult-use market.
The company’s CEO, Angelo Tsebelis, commented on how WeedMD is progressing on various fronts.
“The ability to effectively cultivate cannabis outdoors optimises our yields for cost-efficient production to develop products with greater commercial sales value.
“Over the past few months, our cultivation team has made significant headway in boosting outdoor efficiencies, selecting seven optimal outdoor strains and propagating over 18,000 cannabis clones now fully rooted and planted,” he said.
