Precipitate Gold (TSXV:PRG) has begun a program of exploration field work at its Ponton project in the Dominican Republic.

The site’s Copey Hill Gold Zone hosts surface soil-rock geochemical anomalies, including gold, silver, arsenic, mercury, antimony and thallium, covering an area of approximately 1,200 by 1,000 metres.

The anomalies are open to the east and northeast, and will be the focus of geochemical soil sampling work.

Field crews will collect roughly 300 individual soil samples from an area extending 500 metres east of a previously surveyed region. This work has been designed to establish the eastern limit of the multi-element soil anomaly.

Following this, an in-depth program of geological mapping will seek to build on previously identified areas of white clay argillic and silica alteration. The regions are hosted in prospective Los Ranchos Formation volcanic rocks, which boast similarities with the host rocks at Barrick Gold’s Pueblo Viejo Gold Mine approximately 35 kilometres to the west.

In addition, field crews will undertake a ground magnetic geophysical survey comprising at least 11 north-to-south parallel lines of up to 1.7 kilometres in length. This survey will gather detailed data to facilitate geological mapping, and will identify subtle magnetic low anomalies that could suggest epithermal gold systems.

Jeffrey Wilson, President and CEO of Precipitate Gold, noted that the relaxation of the Dominican Republic’s COVID-19 restrictions have allowed for the resumption of exploration activities.

“We are pleased to initiate our first exploration program on the Copey Hill Gold Zone since restrictions were imposed some months ago.

“These critical programs of soil sampling, geological mapping and ground magnetic geophysical surveying will be conducted to advance the target to a drill stage as promptly as possible,” he said.

Precipitate Gold (PRG) is currently steady at C$0.16 per share, as of 2:44pm EDT.
