Eastern Platinum (ELR) has ramped up its output of platinum group metals after recent upgrades.

The company has completed all reconfiguring and optimization of its small-scale PGM Circuit D, including additional work to restart its PGM Main Circuit.

The company finished commissioning last week and has resumed production with the first dispatch of PGM concentrate occurring on March 23, 2021.

Eastern Platinum finished the upgrades to consistently produce a minimum of 200 tons of PGM concentrate per month. The company expects this to have a positive impact on its revenue.

The next phase toward restarting the PGM Main Circuit is scheduled for May 2021 with commissioning expected in October 2021. The company estimates this will add a further 800 tons of PGM concentrate per month, thereby increasing production four-fold overall.

Diana Hu, Eastern Platinum’s President and CEO, stated,

“The company is ramping up its PGM production at a time of increasing demand and rising PGM pricing. Several countries recently legislated new curbs on pollution from gasoline and diesel engines boosting the use of PGMs in autocatalysts, the largest application of PGMs.”

South Africa remains at alert level 1 regarding COVID-19. The company continues to follow the government’s health guidelines as its Retreatment Project continues to produce and transport chrome and PGM products.

Eastern Platinum own platinum group metals and chrome assets in the Republic of South Africa.

Eastern Platinum (ELR) is up 3.95 per cent and is currently trading at C$0.395 per share as of 11:19 am ET.
