Avrupa Minerals (AVU) has submitted an exploration permit application in Finland.

The company’s application covers 18.4 square kilometres in Finland’s Pyhasalmi Mining District.

The licence covers prospective copper-zinc volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits.

They also cover the past-producing Kangasjärvi Zinc Mine, operated in the 1980s.

The company has already completed a drone-based magnetic survey over priority target areas within the Exploration License Application this year.

It is currently reviewing and compiling historic drill hole database, while beginning the new drill targeting process.

This marks the company’s second Exploration permit application in Finland, following its acquisition of 49-percent of Akkerman Finland Oy.

“The new application is the next step in creating a strong exploration program in the Pyhäsalmi Mining District, Central Finland. The application covers already-known massive sulfide mineralization with good potential for new discoveries. We have already completed several geophysical surveys, including SkyTEM and drone-supported magnetics, over the target area. And, we have now started to compile recently-acquired historic drill information to get a better idea of the position and tenor of mineralization in the mine area. With this information, we expect to be able to generate new, previously-untested targets in the Kangasjärvi area,” said CEO Paul W. Kuhn.

The company is continuing to seek and develop other opportunities around Europe.

Avrupa Minerals is down 12.5 percent, trading at $0.035 at 12:51 pm ET.
