Canada Nickel Company (CNC) has announced the results from the initial phases of pilot plant testing material from the Crawford Nickel Project.

Although the project primarily develops nickel, it can also produce cobalt, palladium, and platinum contained in the nickel concentrates, iron, and chromium.

Last month, Canada Nickel successfully completed the first phase of a 34-tonne pilot demonstration of the Crawford metallurgical flowsheet in Lakefield, Ontario. The company saw an 18 per cent improvement in iron recovery with a 16 per cent grade improvement and a 15 per cent increase in chromium recovery.

Mark Selby, Chairman and CEO of Canada Nickel, commented,

“We are already in multiple discussions with leading North American and European stainless and ferroalloy producers on downstream processing partnerships for processing this material… the potential to capture carbon emissions using Crawford’s in-process tailings carbonation process, which would facilitate zero carbon production of downstream steel and ferroalloy products.”

The remaining phase of testing is expected to be completed by the end of this month. It will involve the final cleaning stages of the intermediate flotation concentrate.

Canada Nickel Company Inc. (CNC) is unchanged, trading at $1.40 per share as of 11:39 a.m. EST.
