TC Transcontinental (TCL.A) will oversee select newspaper printing for Metroland Media.

The outsourcing pertains to all printing taking place at Metroland’s Tempo facility in Toronto, including two daily newspapers and 49 community publications.

The agreement also extends the current printing agreement of two daily newspapers, including the Toronto Star and four community publications, to the end of 2027.

The gradual transfer will occur over the next few months.

Transcontinental will execute the new business with minimal investment thanks to its national integrated platform, with most work taking place in its Vaughan, Ontario facility. 

“We are proud of Metroland’s confidence in us, expanding the solid relationship we have built over the years,” said Peter Brues, Transcontinental’s President and CEO. “This agreement demonstrates the strength and benefit of our state-of-the-art printing platform for newspaper publishers.”

TC Transcontinental is Canada’s largest printer and a leader in flexible packaging in North America. The company generated approximately C$3 billion in revenue during the fiscal year ended October 30, 2022.

TC Transcontinental (TCL.A) is down by 2.73 per cent, trading at $14.94 per share as of 2:11 pm EST.
