Zonte Metals (TSXV:ZON) has made a significant discovery at its Cross Hills Copper Project in Newfoundland.

In a news release, the company stated copper-in-soil anomalies were found during a gravity survey done in spring 2023.

The K1 gravity spans 2 kilometres in length and is up to 600 metres in width and is open along strike in one direction.

The company said there has been little prospecting over the target area but that copper mineralization has been discovered in several locations within the area. The program was also completed on wide-spaced lines at 300 metres with sample sites at 100 metres as a first pass that was then followed by infill lines in one area.

The news comes after Zonte Metals discovered a large soil anomaly over the K6S and K7 targets also at the Cross Hills Copper Project.

Zonte Metals revealed earlier in February that soil data identified a notable semi-circular copper-in-soil anomaly measuring 2,400 metres in length and up to 800 metres in width.

Spanning roughly 25 kilometres in length along the deep-seated Cross Hills Fault, the Cross Hills Copper Project is an iron oxide copper gold system. The company has been working on the project since 2018 and has discovered 12 targets to date.

Zonte Metals is focused on gold and copper and owns 100 per cent of the MJ project, in the Tintina Gold Belt in the Yukon Territory, the Wings Point project in the new Central Newfoundland Gold Belt, and the Cross Hills IOCG project located in Newfoundland

Shares of Zonte Metals are down 15 per cent to C$0.085 as of 9:30 am ET.
