Geologica Resource Corp. (CSE:GRCM) is a dual-listed company in Canada on the CSE and in Germany on the Frankfurt Exchange. The company is engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of high-grade deposits of metals critical to the electrification of the planet.

We spoke with President and CEO Doug Unwin who spoke about the company and provided some recent updates.

TMO: Doug, you have over 30 years of experience. It’s not your first rodeo, 17 in the public markets. What is one of your favourite parts of heading a company like Geologica Resources?

Unwin: I think really putting that vast experience to work to bring forward these projects that I’ve been tasked with completing and moving forward to create past successes that we’ve had and try and move those forward and working with great people in the industry. I mean, the stories that you hear from all these guys out there; it’s tremendous. It’s a great time.

TMO: I understand there’s also a new member who joined the board, David Mark, and he’s also worked as a geoscientist for 53 years. What makes him a great addition?

Unwin: That great experience, absolutely. I mean, all over the world working with different types of minerals and vast majority in British Columbia discovering deposits here. The other thing that he adds is the kind of Rolodex, as we used to say, of all the contacts that he has in the industry that it takes to move one of these projects forward and into mining.

In addition, we’ve also added a fellow, Andy Saltis. And Andy has been working in mining uranium, different types of commodities and most recently in operations and management at Pretium’s, Brucejack Mine in the Golden Triangle. Clearly, two really experienced guys to add on to our experienced advisory board that we have, Robert Boyd and Bob McKnight. Clearly, I’ve kind of got a dream technical exploration team now. It’s great.

TMO: I know it’s also been said that the copper boom is likely to last for decades. So how is the company planning on tapping into or maybe adding to that growth?

Unwin: The copper we decided on right from the beginning in that technologies change, whether it was batteries or nuclear or hydrogen or whatever but the copper was going to be needed to move this around all the time. We knew that was going to be the long-lasting piece, and that fit into sort of the timeframes for developing a mine.

Accordingly, those two things came really close together and that’s why we concentrated on mining copper and then finding our Topley project here in B.C.

TMO: I wanted to talk about the Topley copper gold projects. Located in B.C. as we talked about, road accessible, which is great and the region’s known for larger deposits but what are some other factors that make the area a great discovery?

Unwin: Infrastructure is really key in the Topley area. There’s a highway through there, along with high power electrical lines that used to feed the Granisle and Bell Mines that run right through the property. Additionally, water is on the property. It’s only a 40 kilometre drive to rail to take product out to tide water at Prince Rupert.

All that infrastructure is in place. Lots of people in the Smithers area involved in mining, lots of experience and stuff there and then on the geology itself, we’ve found a large copper anomaly through our geochemistry exploration, surrounded by a big gold anomaly and some VMS anomalies there. Yeah, it’s great.

TMO: It does sound wonderful and obviously it’s a great time for investors or I guess I should say, what makes it a great time for investors to invest in Geologica?

Unwin: Well, there’s more, absolutely. I mean, right now, I mean, commodities juniors exploration has been pretty beaten up. We have a really low valuation. Additionally, we hover around a million dollars at this point, so we’ve got a ton of upside from that. We’ve got geology and geophysics going on the next spring and drilling for this year.

Six months along, we’re going to move the project forward. Subsequently, we’ll move the value of the property forward on that front. We’ve got great people in place now. It’s a great time to come in.

TMO: That kind of answered my next question, what are we looking forward to? What are the goals that you want to accomplish?

Unwin: We’ve added a couple of claims to the west of our existing property. We’ve just done that based on the scientific work that we’ve done. It’s kind of pointed in that direction. We’re continually looking for properties in B.C. We want to stay in B.C. and in the copper space. We think that’s a great place to work.

However, we’ll be continuing to do that and on the technical side. Also, also looking to add a vice president of exploration to add a full-time technical person to the company.
