A total of 1,350 unionized Bombardier (TSX:BBD.A) aerospace workers in Toronto are on strike after the union and company did not reach an agreement.

A statement from Unifor Local 112 and Local 673 explained that contract talks with the Canadian business jet manufacturer went past the weekend deadline and both sides are said to be returning to the bargaining table on Monday.

This job action comes just a month after the aerospace company officially opened its new global business jet production facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Demands have not been disclosed, though Unifor workers held a similar strike for a week in July 2021 at Bombardier’s Toronto business jet assembly plant. This lead to the ratification of a three-year collective agreement, including higher monthly pension benefits and wage increases.

The company has a worldwide fleet of more than 5,000 aircraft in service across multinational corporations, charter and fractional ownership providers, governments and private individuals.
