Cannabix Technologies (CSE:BLO), a developer of marijuana and alcohol breath testing technologies focused on workplace and public safety, has been invited to present its Marijuana Breath Test (MBT) technology at the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) 38th Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida this August.

The annual ABC Conference is widely regarded as one of the premier gatherings for combat sports regulators and industry professionals. The event brings together athletic commissioners, medical experts, referees, judges, inspectors, promoters and other stakeholders involved in professional boxing, mixed martial arts (MMA), Muay Thai and other combative sports.

Cannabix said the conference provides a significant opportunity to introduce its marijuana breath testing platform to organizations responsible for athlete safety, cannabis testing policies and competition oversight. The company will participate alongside strategic laboratory partner Omega Laboratories, giving both organizations direct access to decision-makers involved in athlete screening and regulatory compliance.

The company believes the combat sports industry represents a promising commercial opportunity for its technology as regulators and promoters seek objective methods to assess recent cannabis use among athletes participating in safety-sensitive activities. Unlike conventional testing methods that may detect cannabis consumption long after impairment-related effects have subsided, Cannabix’s breath-based approach is designed to focus on more recent THC use closer to the time of competition, training sessions or post-incident evaluations.

Combat sports place significant demands on athletes’ reaction times, situational awareness, balance and hand-eye coordination. As a result, regulators continue to explore testing approaches that support athlete safety while maintaining competitive integrity.

According to Cannabix, the Marijuana Breath Test platform offers several advantages for combat sports organizations, including rapid and non-invasive sample collection, recent-use THC information relevant to event timing, practical pre-event and post-incident screening capabilities, and laboratory-supported confirmation services through Omega Laboratories. The company also says the technology could help regulators establish more consistent cannabis-related decision-making processes.

“The value of breath testing is that it can provide more time-relevant information than traditional testing methods in settings where drug use timing matters,” Omega Laboratories’ president, Jerry Crosby, said in a news release. “For combat sports, where athlete safety, reaction time and medical decision-making are critical, recent-use testing supported by laboratory confirmation can give regulators a more practical tool for cannabis-related evaluations.”

The presentation comes as cannabis regulations continue to evolve across North America and internationally. Athletic commissions and sanctioning bodies are increasingly tasked with balancing athlete rights, public safety considerations and fair competition standards. Cannabix believes recent-use breath testing may provide a practical tool to support these objectives within regulated sports environments.

Beyond cannabis detection, Cannabix is advancing broader drug-screening capabilities through development of a five-panel breath testing platform designed to identify multiple classes of drugs. The company believes this expanded capability could open opportunities across a range of safety-sensitive industries, including workplace safety programs, transportation, law enforcement, corrections and incident-response operations.

Cannabix stated that combining multi-panel breath testing with laboratory confirmation services could offer organizations a more modern and comprehensive testing framework compared with traditional specimen-based collection methods.

The company’s appearance at the ABC Conference marks another step in its efforts to introduce breath-based screening technologies to regulated markets where timely assessment of recent drug use is increasingly viewed as an important component of safety and risk management.
