The TSX hit yet another all-time high on Tuesday, despite a drop in oil prices as investors monitored uncertainty surrounding the conflict in the Middle East. Gold prices held steady, while attention also turned to corporate earnings after specialty semiconductor producer 5N Plus (TSX:VNP) reported second-quarter results that beat expectations late Monday. Investors are now awaiting earnings releases from several energy and mining companies, including Suncor Energy (TSX:SU) and Orla Mining (TSX:OLA).

US markets were also in positive territory, with technology shares driving the advance following a strong rally across the major indexes in the previous session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an intraday high of its own.
