Centurion Minerals Ltd. (TSXV:CTN) is a Vancouver-based mineral exploration and development company focused on projects located in the Americas.

We spoke with Director, President and CEO David Tafel, who shared details about the company’s current projects.

TMO: To kick us off, can you provide a brief background about the company?

Tafel: We’re a junior exploration company. Basically, we’re comprised of a number of very seasoned, experienced financial and geological experts. We’ve had a number of successes in the past at creating some significant shareholder value.

Most recently, we spun out a subsidiary and gave those shares to our shareholders. It’s going off in a different direction than mineral exploration. It’s more along the CBD, the cannabis route. We’ve entered into an agreement with a company that has developed a product that is a water-soluble CBD product very close to commercialization and that is going in a separate direction. And we’re focused on the mineral exploration side of the business with Centurion and we’ve recently picked up a new project.

TMO: Moving to some other recent news, Centurion recently finalized the Casa Berardi West Gold Property agreement and completed private placement financing. What does this mean for the company?

Tafel: This is really our focus. We were able to enter into an agreement to acquire 100 per cent interest in mineral claims in northeastern Ontario in the Casa Berardi area, which is historically a very prolific producing and developing area in gold and copper primarily, and we have the right to earn a 100 per cent interest in 5,000 hectares of claims.

Also, we closed a financing a little over half a million dollars that will go into the first phase of exploration of this project. So, we’re at the very start. We’re ready to go. Looks like the gold market is starting to pick up and that’s a bit of a tailwind for us now.

TMO: Centurion also posted historic drill results at its Newman property. How are these results achieved?

Tafel: Yes, these are historical results that we were able to compile. Interestingly, our geologist pulled up information on one of the claim blocks called the Newman Block.

There are 70 historical drill holes. They’re fairly shallow. Granted, many of them returned over one gram of gold in this RC drilling with results as high as 38 grams. So we know that there’s gold on the property. It is significant for us.

Right now, we must determine how much and is that of economic nature and that’s how our exploration plans have to fall into place and develop and where our objectives are.

TMO: I’m curious about the company’s exploration strategy. How does Centurion select which sites to focus on to maximize drill results?

Tafel: We’ve got a pretty good group of geologists that have been through this before. Additionally, the basics are compiling the historical data and finding as much as we can, determining also who’s in the area, what sort of results have they come up with. We’ve got a company that’s very close by that has had some very successful drill results called Amex Exploration. They recently raised $25 million. We effectively tie onto them.

However, it’s a compilation of historical data determining whether we can immediately go to drilling. Or, do we need to do some additional sampling and geophysical work first.

TMO: In terms of investment value, where do you see the company headed over the next year or so?

Tafel: Well, insiders are large shareholders. Currently, we own a little over 25 per cent of the shares that are outstanding right now subsequent to the financing. A few of us did participate in that financing – that was at 2 cents. To get to 2 and a half cents is really not sufficient for us. For us, creating value is the name of the game.

Basically, we’re in this with the shareholders, I think that we can reach some significant value in moving this project forward and in fact, we always have our eyes on the horizon for other projects that may create some excitement that we may be able to fast track and arrange financing for.

With that said, I wouldn’t discount looking at other projects moving down the road as well, but certainly developing, exploring, drilling, this is the nature of the business, and I think we’ve got some tremendous potential here with the project that we have.
