Despite a shortened trading week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the TSX has managed to post a solid performance overall, with investors watching a mix of merger activity, corporate showcases, and legal developments across several sectors.
Aurora Cannabis faces renewed pressure from Curaleaf
One company that might not be especially thankful this week is Aurora Cannabis (TSX: ACB, Forum), which is once again dealing with a heightened takeover battle after Curaleaf (TSX: CURA, Forum) enhanced its hostile acquisition offer.
Curaleaf has increased its proposal to acquire all outstanding Aurora shares, offering shareholders implied consideration of US$5.00 per share, consisting of 0.4013 Curaleaf shares plus US$1.00 in cash. Based on Aurora’s share price before the initial offer was announced, Curaleaf says the revised bid represents an 86% premium to Aurora’s unaffected share price and a substantially higher premium when Aurora’s cash holdings are excluded from the calculation.
Curaleaf has also raised the maximum potential consideration under the offer from US$5.00 to US$6.00 per share, arguing that a combined company would create one of the world’s largest cannabis businesses. According to Curaleaf, the merged entity would operate across 17 countries, generate more than US$1.5 billion in trailing revenue, and deliver meaningful cost synergies.

Aurora, however, is not ready to embrace the proposal. The company responded by urging shareholders to take no action while its Special Committee and Board of Directors complete a formal review of the revised offer. Management stated that shareholders should wait for the board’s recommendation before making any decisions, emphasizing that the review process remains ongoing.
We’ve covered this drama before, but the situation now highlights both the consolidation trend unfolding within the global cannabis industry and the challenges facing even established operators as companies seek greater scale, diversification, and improved access to capital.
Bombardier showcases growth ambitions at NBAA-BACE 2026
While Aurora grapples with takeover pressure, Bombardier (TSX:BBD, Forum) is using one of the aviation industry’s biggest events to show off how it handles air pressure.
The company has announced a major presence at the 2026 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas, where it will showcase several of its flagship aircraft. Attendees will be able to tour the highly anticipated Global 8000, alongside the Global 6500 and Challenger 3500 business jets.
Bombardier is also highlighting its customer support operations, which have earned top rankings in major aviation industry surveys in recent years. Beyond the aircraft display itself, the company will invite visitors to experience L’Expérience by Bombardier, an immersive exhibit designed to showcase the innovation, craftsmanship, and technology behind its premium aircraft lineup.
Adding a unique attraction to the event, Bombardier will host a special Pilot Talk featuring actor and accomplished aviator John Travolta. During the session, titled Beyond the Flight Deck, Travolta will discuss lessons learned during five decades of flying and share insights from earning certifications on numerous aircraft types, including a Bombardier Global Express.
The company is also supporting the Corporate Angel Network’s Fund an Angel fundraising initiative, an event dedicated to helping cancer patients access specialized treatment through donated flights on corporate and commercial aircraft.
For investors, Bombardier’s prominent presence at NBAA-BACE serves as a reminder that the company continues to focus on strengthening its brand, showcasing its newest products, and cultivating relationships with customers within the high-margin business jet market.
Almonty Industries scores a legal win
Meanwhile, Almonty Industries (TSX:AII, Forum), a company best known for its exposure to the critical minerals sector through tungsten production, made headlines following an announcement related to a legal dispute.
The company reported that Pure Tungsten Inc. has published a corrective disclosure clarifying statements surrounding Tiger Kim’s historical involvement with Almonty. The clarification follows legal proceedings initiated by Almonty in Ontario in 2025.
According to Almonty, the settlement confirms that Tiger Kim never held any executive, officer, or director role within the company. Almonty stated that his involvement was limited to serving as an independent contractor and that this relationship ended on December 31, 2015.
Management characterized the corrective disclosure as confirmation of the company’s longstanding position regarding Kim’s role. While the dispute itself may not directly affect Almonty’s operational outlook, the resolution removes a source of uncertainty and allows management to maintain focus on its strategic objectives, including the continued development of its tungsten assets.
Given growing Western interest in securing reliable supplies of critical minerals used in industrial, aerospace, and defense applications, developments involving tungsten producers like Almonty continue to attract investor attention.
Out with the turkeys, in with the jack o’ lanterns ….
