Fortuna Silver Mines (FVI) has achieved construction and operational milestones for its Séguéla Gold Project in Côte d’Ivoire.

The overall project is approximately 90 per cent complete and remains on-track and on-budget for its first gold pour in mid-2023. Commissioning of the fuel depot and grid connection and energization of the substation for the project is complete.

David Whittle, COO in West Africa for Fortuna Silver Mines, commented,

“Our operational teams are being assembled with an experienced core leadership group already hired… This will mark a significant milestone for Fortuna, with Séguéla also exhibiting growth potential given the quantity of inferred resources and the exploration success on the property to date.”

The company’s operational readiness has become the focus in preparation for the commissioning of the processing plant. As a result of the site team’s work, the project is ready for this transition which also represents a significant milestone for the company.

The project’s mining contractor has established its temporary facilities on site to support initial mining activities, with construction of the permanent mining services area infrastructure progressing well. The mining fleet required for initial mining activities is on site and has been commissioned.

The next stage of mining equipment is on-schedule for late-February availability. Additionally, mining preparations are underway, with the Antenna Stage one pit having been cleared and grade control drilling in progress. The pad and Antenna pit haul road areas have been cleared for construction which is scheduled to begin shortly.

Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (FVI) is up 3.11 per cent trading at $5.30 per share as of 3:12 p.m. EST.
