Forward Water Technologies (TSXV:FWTC) has been contracted by CleanTech Lithium (OTCQX:CTLHF) to help develop its extraction processes in Chile.

Forward Water will provide advisory services for the support and development of CleanTech Lithium’s direct lithium extraction processes, which isolates and converts lithium brine into high-purity, battery-grade lithium carbonate. This is a critical component in the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

The company intends to leverage its experience in water treatment and process optimization to advise and support CleanTech Lithium on the design and implementation of water treatment solutions within their direct lithium extraction processes.

“We are excited to partner with CleanTech Lithium and contribute our technical knowledge and experience to the development of their innovative direct lithium extraction processes,” Grant Thornley, director engineering solutions of Forward Water Technologies, said in a media release.

“This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to the development and delivery of sustainable solutions for critical mineral extraction and underscores the importance of water management in the lithium production supply chain.” C. Howie Honeyman, CEO of Forward Water Technologies, added.

CleanTech Lithium PLC is a Jersey-based exploration and development company, advancing lithium projects in Chile. The team is working on extraction from brine, with a focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

Forward Water Technologies Corp. is advancing commercialization of its proprietary forward osmosis technology. The technology allows manufacturing operations to clean wastewater that would otherwise require costly disposal. The technology can also enable the reclamation of up to 90 per cent of the waste as clean water and the return of this valuable resource to the environment.

Forward Water Technologies Corp. last traded at $0.04 per share. Though down 52.94 per cent over the past year, Forward Water stock is up 14.28 per cent this week.

Cleantech Lithium last traded at $0.22 per share.
