Joe Mazumdar, Editor and Publisher of the Exploration Insights newsletter, spoke with Simon Druker about new technologies changing the mining sector.
According to Mazumdar, drone technology has been expediting access to land, including geophysical studies, over the past few years.
On the mining and metallurgical side, he sees an increase in extraction solutions focused on secondary minerals for added sources of revenue.
With the rise in ESG awareness, issuers are also increasingly concerned with reducing diesel exposure in favor of electrification.
Mazumdar identified a specific competitive advantage in companies with block-caving capabilities, which afford cost-savings comparable to “underground open-pit mining”.
For retail investors, he advises a minimum two-year timeline with a focus on management expertise in the commodities at hand and access to capital to minimize shareholder dilution.
