Liberty Defense Holdings (TSXV:SCAN) announced that its HEXWAVE product has been purchased by a juvenile correctional facility in Santiago, Chile.

The system was purchased by Setronix Chile S.A., with deployment scheduled for this summer. The provider of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies explained that with facilities at Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, Setronix Chilie S.A. can support security-based operations in Santiago and in other parts of the country.

The Vancouver-based company stated that the system will be operated by SENAME, the National Minors’ Service, a government agency managed by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. SENAME is focused on safety and security in juvenile justice and reintegration. The technology will use it to secure a juvenile correctional facility in Chile.

HEXWAVE employs millimetre-wave technology, sophisticated 3D imaging, and artificial intelligence to identify hidden weapons, metallic and non-metallic, along with other banned objects. This system facilitates swift and automated screening through a high-capacity, hands-free, walk-through portal. HEXWAVE is deployed across various high-security sites and premises, spanning sectors such as aviation, judicial buildings, national laboratories, correctional facilities, and government installations.

Liberty Defense noted that the system is seeing growing adoption in multiple market areas that require high levels of security including courthouses, national labs, prisons, government facilities, and ports of entry in aviation.

“This is an important award for Liberty as we expand our customer base internationally and into Latin America,” the company’s CEO, Bill Frain, said in a news release. “Efficiently screen for a broad range of threats and prohibited items to secure the safety of all within the correctional facility. We are confident this will lead to more adoption throughout Chile.”

The company is working to expand its international customer base and recently shipped commercial units of the HEXWAVE system to the Netherlands and the Philippines. Looking domestically, Liberty Defense was granted a formal equipment authorization approval from the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada to allow its HEXWAVE security product to be deployed for commercial and government use across Canada. Earlier this week, the company also shipped HEXWAVE systems to a major Canadian airport for various screening applications.

Liberty Defense Holdings provides multi-technology security solutions for concealed weapon detection in areas such as airports, stadiums, schools and more.
