Lightspeed Commerce (TSX:LSPD) has announced a broad new set of product enhancements across its retail and hospitality platforms, expanding its use of artificial intelligence, payments automation and multi-location management tools as the company seeks to help businesses operate more efficiently in an increasingly complex environment.

The unified commerce platform provider, which serves retail, golf and hospitality businesses in more than 100 countries, said its latest innovations are designed to address key challenges facing merchants, including labor constraints, fragmented software systems, manual administrative work and growing operational complexity.

“What we’ve released this quarter reflects our continued focus on helping ambitious businesses operate with less friction,” Lightspeed’s founder and CEO, Dax Dasilva said in a news release. “From simplifying daily operations and improving sales visibility, to creating faster checkout experiences and streamlining fulfillment across channels, these innovations are designed to help our customers move faster, operate smarter, and deliver great customer experiences with confidence.”

For investors, the latest product release highlights Lightspeed’s continued focus on increasing the value of its ecosystem while deepening customer adoption of Lightspeed Payments, a strategic growth area for the company.

“Businesses are under increasing pressure to do more with less,” Lightspeed said, noting that its new capabilities are intended to simplify workflows, improve productivity and provide merchants with greater visibility into operations.

Payments remain a business focus

A central theme of the announcement is Lightspeed’s ongoing investment in its integrated payments platform.

Over the past year, the company has introduced features such as saved payment methods, payment pre-authorizations, automated reconciliation tools and upgraded payment hardware. Lightspeed said these enhancements are helping merchants reduce manual work, minimize errors, accelerate service and streamline end-of-day financial processes.

By bringing more of the payments lifecycle within a single platform, Lightspeed aims to improve operating efficiency while strengthening customer reliance on its broader software ecosystem.

Retail platform gains new AI and marketing capabilities

Among the most notable retail updates is a new integration with marketing automation specialist Klaviyo.

The integration synchronizes customer, sales and product data in real time, allowing retailers to automate personalized communications such as welcome campaigns, post-purchase follow-ups and customer re-engagement efforts without relying on separate systems or manual data transfers.

Lightspeed also introduced an AI Blog Builder, which enables merchants to create SEO-optimized blog content in minutes. The tool provides automated topic recommendations, publishing reminders, multilingual support and design controls aimed at helping retailers maintain a consistent online presence and attract new customers.

The company’s AI Assistant has also been upgraded with an AI-powered section generator that helps merchants create and refine website content using a conversational interface. Users can preview changes in real time, allowing them to update digital storefronts more quickly while maintaining brand consistency.

In-store sales teams are receiving AI-driven support as well. The latest version of Lightspeed Scanner now delivers product cross-sell recommendations during customer interactions and at checkout. Using a rolling 90-day market basket analysis, the system recommends complementary products based on purchasing patterns, potentially helping retailers increase average transaction values.

Lightspeed is additionally enhancing the customer experience through new omnichannel customer accounts, which allow shoppers to access purchase histories and manage loyalty points across online and physical channels from a single portal.

For wholesale brands using NuORDER, Lightspeed introduced a new sales performance dashboard that consolidates order, revenue and unit sales data. The tool provides year-over-year performance tracking and visibility into top-performing sales representatives, reducing reliance on spreadsheet-based reporting.

Hospitality solutions target multi-location operators

On the hospitality side, Lightspeed is expanding its use of AI to help restaurant and venue operators gain actionable business insights.

The upgraded Lightspeed AI platform allows users to ask questions in natural language and instantly generate customized charts and operational reports from back-office data. Operators using Lightspeed Tasks can also identify recurring operational issues across locations without manually reviewing checklist comments and notes.

The company also launched Locations Manager, a new centralized dashboard designed to simplify multi-venue operations.

The initial release allows hospitality businesses to manage menus, share inventory items and synchronize updates across locations from a single interface. Lightspeed said future updates are expected to add capabilities such as user-permission controls, invoice visibility and more comprehensive business reporting.

Automated reconciliation could reduce administrative burden

Another key hospitality enhancement is automated payments reconciliation.

Through Lightspeed Payments, the platform can now automatically reconcile transactions involving tips, split checks, chargebacks and tip adjustments. Lightspeed said the feature helps restaurants identify discrepancies between point-of-sale data and bank deposits more quickly, reducing the amount of time managers spend balancing books after service.

The company also expanded its reservations offering with a new booking widget that allows customers to make reservations directly through a restaurant’s website.

By keeping guests within the restaurant’s digital environment rather than directing them to third-party booking platforms, operators may be able to capture more reservations while maintaining greater control over the customer journey.

The latest product rollout reflects Lightspeed’s strategy of combining AI-driven productivity tools with deeper payments integration to increase customer engagement and platform stickiness. As competition intensifies in the commerce software market, the company is positioning itself as an all-in-one operating system for retailers and hospitality businesses seeking to streamline workflows and reduce administrative overhead.

Lightspeed Commerce offers a one-stop commerce platform designed to simplify, scale and enhance the customer experience. The company serves retail, hospitality, and golf businesses in more than 100 countries.

Lightspeed stock (TSX:LSPD) opened trading around a per cent higher at C$14.55 and is up nearly 10 per cent over the past three months, but down 10 per cent since the beginning of the year.
