TSX and Nasdaq rally as Amazon joins the $3T club and Palantir jumps on AI demand. Oil falls, copper rises, gold gains and Bitcoin edges higher.

Markets are rallying as investors lean back into technology, AI, and large-cap growth. The TSX is up 0.68%, while the TSX Venture Index is surging 2.90%, showing broad strength across Canadian markets. In the U.S., the Dow is up 0.83% and the Nasdaq is climbing 1.71%, as traders respond to renewed momentum in Big Tech and software. London’s FTSE 100 is also modestly higher, up 0.18%.

The macro backdrop is being helped by easing oil prices, with WTI crude down more than 4% as U.S.–Iran tensions cool and talks are expected to resume. Copper and gold are both higher, suggesting investors are still balancing growth exposure with defensive positioning. Bitcoin is also gaining in Canadian-dollar terms, while the broader AI story remains front and centre after reports that Big Tech cloud backlogs have reached $2.3 trillion.
