TSX advances as Dell boosts forecasts on AI server demand. Apple begins a new era under John Ternus while oil and bond yields remain in focus.

Markets are mixed today as investors navigate rising oil prices, elevated bond yields, and renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The TSX is up 0.62%, while the TSX Venture Index is gaining 0.99%, supported by strength in commodities and resource-related stocks. In the U.S., the Dow is up 0.38%, but the Nasdaq is down 0.28% as higher Treasury yields continue to pressure technology valuations despite ongoing enthusiasm around artificial intelligence.

Oil remains a key market driver after fresh U.S. and Iranian strikes pushed crude prices higher and inflation concerns back into focus. The 10-year Treasury yield has climbed to its highest level since 2023, while the Bank of Canada holds key rate at 2.25 per cent once again signaled a cautious stance toward monetary policy. Gold is rebounding despite elevated yields, copper is rising, and Bitcoin remains above C$107,000 despite a modest pullback.
