TSX rises as Apple tops Nvidia and Coca-Cola raises guidance. Nasdaq falls on chip weakness, while copper, gold, oil, gas and Bitcoin decline.

The TSX is up 0.56%, while the TSX Venture Index is sharply higher by 2.20%, as Canadian equities move higher despite renewed pressure across semiconductor names. U.S. markets are mixed, with the Dow up 0.65% while the Nasdaq falls 0.92% as chip weakness weighs on technology sentiment. London’s FTSE 100 is also higher, up 0.40%, as investors rotate through global equities following another volatile session.

The macro backdrop remains uneven. Apple’s push to a new record is helping support mega-cap confidence, but the selloff in SK Hynix, Micron and other chip names is keeping the AI trade under pressure. Commodities are broadly weaker, with copper, gold, WTI crude and natural gas all lower, while Bitcoin is also down in Canadian-dollar terms as risk appetite remains selective.
