In a move to expand its market presence, Metro Inc., a leading food and pharmacy chain in Québec and Ontario, has begun carrying Cwench Hydration products in its Québec stores. This follows the successful introduction of Cwench Hydration in Metro stores across Ontario.

Cizzle Brands (Cboe Canada: CZZL), the parent company of Cwench Hydration, is scaling the brand footprint across Canada, and this placement can significantly strengthen its growth in the Québec market. Recent developments include commercial site distribution of Cwench Hydration through Montreal-based Van Houtte Coffee Services, which services over 3,000 locations in the Montreal area alone, and full distribution across MacEwen-owned gas stations in both Ontario and Québec.

On January 9th, Cizzle Brands announced that 47 Metro supermarkets in Ontario would begin carrying Hydration Mix packets of Cwench Hydration in their pharmacy sections. Based on the early-stage performance of Cwench Hydration in Metro’s Ontario stores, Cizzle Brands has collaborated with Metro Inc. to make additional placements of the product in the grocer’s Québec locations.

The new placements include:

  • Cwench Hydration ready-to-drink flavours Rainbow Swirl, Blue Raspberry, Cherry Lime, and Berry Crush, now available in approximately 130 Metro supermarkets in Québec.
  • Hydration mix in the 10-count packet format for Cwench Hydration flavours Rainbow Swirl and Blue Raspberry, now sold in approximately 100 Metro supermarkets in Québec.

Metro Inc. operates a network of around 995 food stores under several banners, including Metro, Metro Plus, Super C, Food Basics, Adonis, and Première Moisson, and 640 pharmacies primarily under the Jean Coutu, Brunet, Metro Pharmacy, and Food Basics Pharmacy banners.

“Grocery is proving to be an important category for us, particularly because there are many more opportunities to drive awareness of new products (ie:., through floor displays, weekly flyers, etc.) which we can leverage to encourage first-time purchase conversions,” Cizzle Brands’ founder, chairman, and chief executive, John Celenza said in a news release. “Working with the Metro Inc. team has been a great pleasure for us, and we look forward to continuing this relationship as we seek to further establish Cwench Hydration as a leading name in sports beverages.”

This expansion intends to strengthen Cwench Hydration’s market presence and drive growth for Cizzle Brands Corp. in the competitive hydration product market. Cizzle Brands launched Cwench Hydration in May of 2024, a sports nutrition beverage that is now carried in more than 1,200 stores in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Cizzle Brands Corp. (Cboe Canada: CZZL) opened trading at $0.42.
