Mitsubishi Electric selects BlackBerry to power new in-vehicle system

Mitsubishi Electric’s (OTC Pink:MIELY) new automotive system, FLEXConnect, will be powered by BlackBerry’s (TSX:BB) vehicle data platform, IVY.

The collaboration aims to help advance road safety by leveraging an array of sensor data to anticipate safety risks, reduce driver distractions, highlight potential driving hazards, and enable new consumer experiences.

The FLEXConnect in-cabin system core is its driver monitoring system and occupant monitoring system. BlackBerry IVY is an edge-to-cloud vehicle data platform that can extract and analyze data from internal and external sensors and leverages machine learning to process all data.

BlackBerry provides intelligent security software and services to enterprises and governments around the world.

BlackBerry stock last traded at $6.72 per share and is up 52.3 per cent year to date.
