Sokoman Minerals (TSXV:SIC) has provided results from drilling done on its Moosehead Gold Project completed before spring break-up.

The St. John’s, Newfoundland-based discovery company said in news release that six of the holes were in fences of reconnaisance holes intended to test geophysical and/or soil/till geochemial anomalies.

Most of the holes intersected weakly mineralized structures with minor quartz-carbonate veining and variable amounts of disseminated sulphides.

Additionally, the comapny said itSk had experienced a delay in beginning the current drilling program in order to facilitate a review of the structural and vein models at the project.

Sokoman Minerals’ CEO Tim Froude said in a news release the summer diamond drilling program restarted June 12 with two rigs that are active and present.

In total, 87,280 metres of drilling has been completed in the Phase 6 program and Froude said the company anticipates drilling beyond the scheduled 100,000 metres.

“Diamond drilling and/or trenching (depending on overburden depth) will test other areas on the property with a view to discovering high grades in extensions of known zones and new drill targets,” Froude said.

Sokoman Minerals has projects in Newfoundand and Labrador, Canada and is primarily focused on its gold projects. In addition to the Moosehead project, the company holds the Crippleback Lake and East Alder along the Central Newfoundland Gold Belt.

Shares of Sokoman Minerals (SIC) are up 5.26 per cent to C$0.10 as of 11:38 a.m. ET.
