Our focus in this week’s Stockhouse Gold Report is on mining companies whose high-potential assets, recently enhanced by positive news flow, paint a rosy picture about future developments.

This article is a journalistic opinion piece which has been written based on independent research. It is intended to inform investors and should not be taken as a recommendation or financial advice.

Our top story stems from Barrick Mining (TSX:ABX), which announced its intention to pick up a 9.9 per cent stake in Kingfisher Metals (TSXV:KFR), a junior BC gold and copper miner that controls one of the largest land packages in the province’s Golden Triangle, home to most of the country’s copper reserves, as well as an abundance of gold, silver, nickel and other critical mineral deposits.

By the ounce

At the time of writing on Wednesday, the price of gold was US$4,119.50, according to data from ADVFN, up from US$4,064.91 per ounce in our July 15th report, as attacks continue between the US and Iran, lifting oil prices, sparking inflation fears and stoking demand for gold’s hedging and safe-haven properties.

While there is a broad consensus that hawkish monetary policy may be on the horizon to get inflation under control, analysts with a longer-term mindset, such as Well’s Fargo’s Sameer Samana, believe that allocating to gold as portfolio insurance remains a value-added strategy, despite the metal’s recent correction.

This week in gold

Newfoundland and Labrador-based New Found Gold (TSXV:NFG) has also been fostering positive investor sentiment as of late, delivering channel sample and infill drill results from the Lotto zone on its Queensway gold project – highlighted by 23.7 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 15.88 metres (sample) and 43.5 g/t gold over 4.75 m (drilling) – supporting mine planning delineated in the project’s 2025 preliminary economic assessment. Queensway is expected to produce 1.5 million ounces of gold over a 15-year life-of-mine, leaving ample room for expansion across a 110-kilometre strike extent.

Goldgroup Mining (TSXV:GGA) deserves a taste of the spotlight as well, seeing as renown mining investor, Eric Sprott, recently increased his investment in the junior miner, pursuant to its merger with Gold Resource Corporation, reaffirming his conviction in the company’s untapped Mexican assets. These are highlighted by the producing Cerro Prieto mine, whose output of about 11,500 ounces per year is on pace to hit 30,000 ounces in the coming years, and the San Francisco project, whose resources are estimated at 1.226 million ounces of gold measured and indicated and 178,000 ounces inferred, complemented by in-house processing facilities and multiple large-scale exploration targets to potentially ramp up the ounce count.

We end this week’s Gold Report with Auro Metals (TSXV:AURO), a junior mining company active in Ecuador, whose latest assays from phase-I drilling at its Santa Barbara project yielded up to 625.12 m grading 0.64 g/t gold and 0.10 per cent copper, showing mineralization to be open both up-dip and down-dip, supported by gold grades about 23 per cent higher than the inferred resource from the project’s 2026 estimate. And the estimate is nothing to sneeze at, detailing a robust 697,000 ounces of gold and 68 million pounds of copper indicated, plus 3,418,000 ounces of gold and 426 million pounds of copper inferred, with the deposit remaining open along strike and at depth.
