Markets pushed higher today as a tech-led AI rally sent the Nasdaq to a fresh record and lifted sentiment worldwide. The TSX gained 0.52% and the TSX Venture Index rose 0.36%, while the Nasdaq added 0.29% to notch a new high; the Dow slipped 0.07% and the FTSE 100 eased 0.05%.
Oil fell toward $98 a barrel, dropping 1.36%, while gold slipped 0.27% and copper gained 0.99%. Bitcoin pulled back 0.40% despite trading near $121,000 CAD, and the U.S. dollar held near a seven-week high even as traders loaded up on risk assets. On trade, the EU moved closer to a free trade deal with the Philippines, and Canada said its own Philippines and ASEAN trade talks are 90% complete with a November finish targeted.
