Nvidia surged on a record $150 billion buyback and new AI safety platform, even as oil and yields pushed broader markets lower.

Markets fell broadly today as rising oil prices and bond yields pressured stocks, with retail investors growing increasingly cautious. The TSX dropped 0.71% and the TSX Venture Index fell 2.16%, while the Dow slid 0.41% and the Nasdaq declined 0.68%. The FTSE 100 was the exception, edging up 0.07%.

Oil rose 1.24% after President Trump rejected an Iran peace proposal, knocking down U.S. stocks and pushing bond yields higher even as Nvidia bucked the trend. Gold tumbled 3.32% and copper fell 2.28%, while Bitcoin slipped 1.16% as $82,000 support in the U.S. dollar-denominated price looms. The Loonie held relatively steady against major peers amid the broader risk-off tone.
