Volta Metals (CSE:VLTA) updated the resource estimate for its Springer rare earth element (REE) deposit near Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, growing the asset into one of the top 10 largest in North America, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.

The project, located in one of Canada’s top mining jurisdictions, now holds an estimated 56.6 million tons indicated at 0.70 per cent total rare earth oxides (TREO), up by 1,248 per cent from the 2012 update, and 119.5 million tons inferred at 0.58 per cent TREO, up by 841 per cent from the 2012 update, while remaining open for expansion in all directions.

Volta is currently focused on a 6,000-metre drilling program guided by multiple targets, keen to capitalize on discovery costs as low as C$0.02 per ton of indicated resources in the estimate reported today.

Springer benefits from paved road access and on-site power lines, as well as two nearby hydroelectric dams, making its globally relevant REE resource a prime candidate for further development.

The MRE does not include historical or recently reported high-grade gallium assays from the Fall 2025 drilling program. Additional gallium results are forthcoming.

Management commentary

Springer has reached a new scale and this updated resource reinforces the significant growth potential of the asset,” Kerem Usenmez, chief executive officer of Volta Metals, said in Monday’s news release. “With mineralization remaining open in all directions and drilling ongoing, we believe Springer is well-positioned to continue to advance as a strategically important source of critical rare earth elements with well-developed infrastructure.”
