Stantec (STN) has signed a five-year delivery contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) worth C$45 million.

Through the deal, Stantec will provide geotechnical services to support USACE’s mission to plan, design, construct, operate and control flood damage reduction projects within the continental United States.

Stantec will be responsible for providing geotechnical services for the dam and levee safety projects, which army engineers have been charged with constructing across the mainland U.S.

Stantec also will be involved with stabilising earthen and gravity dams, seepage management and control systems, as well as the design of embankments and foundations and other similar services.

Stantec and the USACE have been collaborating for more than 60 years. Stantec is already providing engineering servicing to USACE’s dam safety modification mandatory centre of expertise, with other similar projects in the pipeline already.

These projects include the Bluestone Dam in West Virginia, Folsom Dam in California, Lewisville Dam Auxillary Spillway in Texas and Leystone Dam in Oklahoma.

Senior Vice President for Stantec’s US federal program, Chris Williams said he was thrilled the company would be continuing its partnership with the USACE.

“We’ve provided geotechnical and engineering services for civil works projects in partnership with USACE, Huntington District, for nearly five decades, helping USACE to make risk-informed decision through reliable exploration and engineering services,” he said.

Stantec (STN) is down 0.26 per cent and is trading at $42.76 per share at 11:55am EDT.
