SunOpta, a plant-based food company, has released an upcycled oat cereal with Seven Sundays, a sustainable breakfast food company.

The collaboration aims to combat food waste through the world’s first oat protein cereal, which incorporates SunOpta’s OatGold, a nutrient-rich, healthy and eco-friendly oat protein powder derived from the byproduct of oat milk production.

The cereal comes in four flavors and contains five grams of upcycled plant-based protein per serving. It is free from artificial flavors, high-intensity sweeteners, and is sweetened lightly with natural sources like dates and organic maple syrup. The cereal is also gluten-free and Non-GMO Project Verified.

The cereal is now available nationwide at major retailers such as Whole Foods Market, Sprouts, and Amazon, as well as through the Seven Sundays website.

SunOpta (TSX:SOY) opened today at $9.24.
