  • The Montréal-based communications company stated that the Progress Report submitted to ISED describes its progress, including maintaining prices of wireless plans by introducing a “mobility price freeze guarantee” for all current and future customers of Freedom Mobile

Quebecor (TSX:QBR.A) fulfilled all undertakings by its Videotron subsidiary’s acquisition of Freedom Mobile to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).

This comes a little more than a year after the acquisition of Freedom Mobile on April 3, 2023.

The Montréal-based communications company stated that the Progress Report on Fulfilment of Videotron’s Undertakings submitted to ISED describes its progress, including:

  • Maintaining prices of wireless plans by introducing a “mobility price freeze guarantee” for all current and future customers of Freedom Mobile
  • Offering more affordable mobile packages, which was a major part of the 26.6 per cent reduction in the wireless component of the Consumer Price Index, according to Statistics Canada, during the year after the acquisition of Freedom Mobile
  • Extending Freedom Mobile and Fizz services to Manitoba and other Canadian markets through MVNO agreements

Quebecor intends to continue working with regulatory and government authorities to further strengthen competition.

A recent survey by Tefficient reported that Canadian telecom companies charge the highest rates compared with 44 countries worldwide.

Quebecor (TSX:QBR.A) last traded at C$29.72 per share and its stock is 14.51 per cent lower over the past year.
