Spin Master (TSX:TOY) is bringing some star power to the next film in its mega-popular “Paw Patrol” franchise.

Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson and popular comedian Fortune Feimster will join the cast of the next film in company’s top franchise when it hits theatres July 31, 2026, according to Variety.

“Jennifer and Fortune are both exceptional talents, each bringing with them a global audience of devoted fans. Their addition to the ‘PAW Patrol 3’ cast, along with the return of Mckenna (Grace, an Emmy nominated actress and singer), whose work in the film’s predecessor was instrumental to its success, will build on the exceptional storytelling for this beloved franchise,” Jennifer Dodge, president of Spin Master Entertainment, said in a news release. “This dynamo trio will undoubtedly make this film a puptastic adventure for preschoolers and their families around the world.”

The previous theatrical release, “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” scored more than US$204 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The movie also grossed more than US$65 million in domestic box office sales and was recognized by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television for earning the highest in domestic box office from January 2022 to February 2023. Combined with the first film, the two have earned more than US$345 million at the global box office.

The films are produced by Spin Master Entertainment with Nickelodeon Movies and distributed by Elevation Pictures in Canada.

Last year was Paw Patrol’s 10th anniversary, and the film broke records to become the largest opening for a Canadian film at the North American box office in 10 years. It was directed by Canadian Cal Brunker, who returns to the director’s chair for “Paw Patrol 3” (subtitle not yet revealed).

Celebrities that have appeared in the past two “Paw Patrol” films include Chris Rock, Jimmy Kimmel, Kim Kardashian, Randall Park, Dax Shepard, Tyler Perry, Serena Williams, James Marsden and Kristen Bell.

Spin Master Corp. is a children’s entertainment company creating play experiences through its three create centres; toys, entertainment and digital games. Its top brands include Paw Patrol (which has generated an estimated US$8 billion in retail sales since 2014), Bakugan and Melissa & Doug, which introduced Blockables, a new collection of wooden snap-and-play building blocks on Tuesday.
