On Thursday, equities in Toronto saw some minor gains with traders taking a pause, given the string of record highs achieved earlier this week. Gains gathered among energy shares were offset by a drop in utilities stocks.
Markets on Wall Street were closed for the Thanksgiving holiday and will reopen for a half-day of trading on Friday.

The Canadian dollar traded for 71.26 cents US compared to 71.22 cents US on Wednesday.
US crude futures traded $0.32 higher at US$58.97 a barrel, and the Brent contract rose $0.10 to US$63.23 a barrel.
The price of gold was down US$9.86 to US$4,157.77.
In world markets, the Nikkei was up 608.03 points to ¥50,167.10, the Hang Seng was up 17.85 points to HK$25,945.93, the FTSE was up 2.35 points to ₤9,693.93, and the DAX was up 41.74 points to €23,767.96.
