Volatus Aerospace (TSX:FLT) ramped up its Canadian wildfire response capabilities through a new partnership with Singular Aircraft, the company behind the FlyOx I heavy-lift autonomous aircraft.

The FlyOx I, originally designed for firefighting, has since evolved to address multi-mission applications, offering a maximum takeoff weight of 4,000 kilograms, a 1,560-litre payload capacity, amphibious capability, as well as automatic takeoff and landing apt for unprepared airstrips, with the aircraft backed by flight operations overseen by five national civil and military aviation authorities across four continents.

Under the agreement, Volatus will serve as Singular’s Canadian Strategic Partner, providing the companies with a framework to introduce the FlyOx I into Canada covering manufacturing, deployment and long-term in-country support, keen on meeting demand across the aircraft’s multitude of target industries, including logistics, government, wildfire response, public safety and emergency management.

According to Tuesday’s news release, engagements with regulators and wildfire management organizations are now underway.
