  • Graphite One’s Alaska subsidiary received a Defense Logistics Agency award for advanced carbon materials testing.
  • The project will evaluate domestically sourced carbon-based composites for high-temperature thermal management uses.
  • Graphite One plans to work with Idaho National Laboratory and industry consultants on the demonstration.

Graphite One Inc. (TSXV: GPH) (OTCQX: GPHOF) said its wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Graphite One (Alaska) Inc., received an award from the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to develop and evaluate domestically sourced advanced carbon materials for high-temperature defense thermal management applications.

The company said the demonstration project will evaluate advanced carbon-based composite materials derived from domestic resources, with the stated aim of supporting the industrial base and developing resilient domestic supply chains for high-temperature systems. Graphite One described the award as its third defense logistics development agreement since 2023.

According to the release, the initiative’s objective is to demonstrate the performance of domestically sourced materials in high-temperature applications and support the development of advanced materials for specialized defense and industrial platforms. The work is expected to include material processing, thermal evaluation, and performance reporting.

Graphite One said it will partner with national laboratory facilities and industry consultants for technical evaluation and stakeholder engagement, including Idaho National Laboratory (INL), a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory.

The company said it will manage the project through Graphite One Advanced Systems (G1x), which it described as its platform for developing next-generation graphite technologies and supply systems for the energy, technology, and national security sectors.

In the release, DLA R&D Program Manager Dr. Vaibhav Jain said, “Advanced thermal management is a critical focus for high-temperature material development. With thermal management representing a key focus area for systems operating in extreme high-temperature environments, evaluating and qualifying domestic material sources remains an essential part of strengthening supply chain resilience.”

Graphite One also reiterated that it is advancing what it described as a comprehensive domestic supply chain strategy for natural graphite and advanced carbon products, which it said is subject to project financing.
