Arena Minerals’ (AN) has reported successful brine processing at its Sal de la Puna Project.

The project is located in the country’s Pastos Grandes basin in the Salta Province in Argentina.

In Phase I and II testing, concentration levels have reached 35 per cent lithium chloride (LiCl).

The LiCl was produced by treating raw brine from the Sal de la Puna lithium brine project, located in the Pastos Grandes basin, Salta, Argentina, with a calcium chloride reagent produced at the company’s 100 per cent owned Antofalla project in nearby Catamarca.

The company’s Executive Chairman, Eduardo Morales, stated that the impurity levels in the final product from the Phase I and II testing are very low, indicating that the company can produce a high purity product suitable for the battery and lithium metal markets.

“We observed trends and reached product specifications similar to those achieved and commercialized at Atacama. We will continue pilot testing, focusing on process optimization, particularly on maximizing reagent efficiencies and recoveries.”

Arena owns 65 per cent of the Sal de la Puna Project, covering 110 sq. km. of the Pastos Grandes basin.

Arena Minerals Inc. (AN) is down 1.14 per cent, trading at $0.435 at 11:50 a.m. ET.
