Barrick Mining (TSX:ABX;NYSE:B) released a number of strategic updates in anticipation of the IPO of a minority stake in its North American gold assets.

Most importantly, the new company appointed an executive leadership team of Barrick veterans, headed by president and chief executive officer, Mark Hill, bringing extensive experience spanning operations, exploration and development that makes them ideally suited to achieve the company’s North American ambitions.

Barrick North America’s portfolio will include four Tier-1 gold assets, including Carlin, Cortez and Turquoise Ridge in the Nevada Gold Mines complex (NGM), and the Pueblo Viejo mine in the Dominican Republic, which collectively produced about 2 million ounces of gold net to the parent company in 2025, while offering numerous avenues for future growth.

Looking ahead, the new company expects its Fourmile gold project, located adjacent to NGM, to carry the most weight in terms of future growth. Leadership is confident that the project hosts “one of the most significant gold discoveries of this century,” according to Tuesday’s news release, making it a good candidate to eventually contribute to the NGM joint venture.

When it comes to the structure of the IPO, Barrick North America will have its primary listing in New York, plus a secondary listing in Toronto, subject to regulatory approval, with the IPO on track to hit the market by the end of 2026.

Leadership commentary

“With our renewed focus and discipline, Barrick has been delivering extremely positive results in North America,” Hill stated. “The IPO is expected to accelerate this momentum by giving North American Barrick its own dedicated management team and highlighting the attractiveness of these gold assets in one of the premier gold districts in the world.”
