Bitfarms’ (BITF) Chief Information Officer and a Director, Mathieu Vachon, has resigned due to personal reasons, which are said to be unrelated to the company.

Founded in 2015, Bitfarms is a Canadian publicly listed bitcoin mining operation with five industrial scale facilities across Quebec. It is responsible for infrastructure activities of approximately 1 per cent of the entire Bitcoin mining industry and daily Bitcoin mined.

Bitfarms Executive Chairman and Director Nicolas Bonta said the company thanks Vachon as a founder and for his services as a key member of Bitfarms.

“Mr. Vachon was instrumental in founding the company and the remaining team has been well trained to continue his vital work. We wish him the very best for the future,” Bonta said.

Mathieu Vachon said it’s been a pleasure to work with the entire Bitfarms team.

“I continue as a substantial shareholder with full confidence in the current management to achieve the full growth potential of Bitfarms,” Vachon added.

According to the company’s website, Vachon built Bitfarms’ operating system and has over 20 years of experience in technology and programming.

Bitfarms is up 11.67 per cent to C$4.88 per share at 2:46pm EST.
