Heads up, Draganfly (CSE:DPRO) has secured a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) waiver enabling its small unmanned aircraft to conduct operations over human beings and moving vehicles.

The waiver, granted under 14 CFR §§ 107.39—Operations over human beings and 107.145—Operations over moving vehicles, allows Draganfly to conduct flights beyond the standard operational restrictions of FAA Part 107 regulations. The permissions cover a prescribed flight route over the city of Boston, emphasizing safety and reliability while operating within challenging and densely populated urban settings.

“This achievement allows us to deploy drones for critical applications in urban environments, including public safety, infrastructure inspection, and specialized mission support,” Draganfly’s CEO, Cameron Chell explained in a news release.

The waiver permits the following operations:

  • Operations over human beings: Allowing flights over individuals who are not direct participants in the UAV operation.
  • Operations over moving vehicles: Enabling UAV operations over moving traffic, which is critical for urban deployment scenarios.

These regulatory exemptions can reinforce Draganfly’s position as a UAV innovator and shows off its agreeability to meet the evolving needs of its defense, government, and commercial partners.

The company also pointed out that it wants to “lead the drone industry into a future where UAVs are seamlessly integrated into urban environments”, which might make the commotion caused by “mysterious drone activity” in the U.S. late last year a common, every day, regular sight.

Draganfly develops drone solutions, software, and AI systems to enhance businesses and serve their stakeholders. The award-winning company has a 24-year history of leadership in saving time, money and lives in the public safety, agriculture, industrial inspections, security, mapping and surveying markets.

Draganfly stock (CSE:DPRO) last traded at C$4.23 and has climbed 18.16 per cent in three months, but has descended 66.16 per cent since this time last year.
