Kodiak Copper (TSXV:KDK) has provided an update on its fully funded 2026 exploration program at its 100 per cent-owned MPD copper-gold porphyry project in southern British Columbia, highlighting steady drilling progress and the discovery of a large new exploration target adjacent to the South deposit.
The company said its 2026 exploration campaign remains on schedule, with two diamond drill rigs currently operating at the MPD project. The program is designed to support resource growth across multiple deposits and includes a planned 16,500 metres of drilling that is expected to continue through the fourth quarter of 2026.

To date, Kodiak has completed 6,348 metres of drilling in 32 core holes. The majority of the work has focused on the Ketchan deposit, where the company believes there is significant potential to expand existing mineralization. A total of 5,301 metres has been drilled in 26 holes at Ketchan so far this year.
At the West deposit, which hosts near-surface high-grade mineralization, Kodiak has completed an additional 1,047 metres in six drill holes. Initial assay results from the current drilling campaign are expected within the next month, with further results planned for release throughout the autumn and winter.
A key development from the exploration program is the completion of a three-dimensional Induced Polarization (3D-IP) survey that has identified a substantial, previously untested chargeability anomaly immediately east of the South deposit. The target area has seen limited historical exploration and has already been prioritized for drilling later in 2026.
According to the company, the newly identified anomaly extends for more than 900 metres and exhibits characteristics similar to the 3D-IP anomaly associated with the South deposit. The two anomalies are separated by a magnetic low feature that geologists interpret to be a fault structure.
Kodiak believes the geophysical data may indicate the newly identified anomaly represents a fault-displaced extension of the South deposit porphyry system. If confirmed through drilling, the discovery could significantly expand the known extent of mineralization in the area and potentially enhance the growth prospects of the MPD project.
The company’s broader strategy for 2026 is focused on expanding the initial Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) at MPD through drilling across multiple deposits. All seven deposits currently included in the resource estimate remain open for expansion, offering opportunities to increase both resource size and confidence.
“Our 2026 exploration program continues to advance well, and we are encouraged by the results we are seeing to date,” Kodiak Copper’s president and CEO, Claudia Tornquist, said in a news release. “The newly identified 3D-IP anomaly is particularly exciting, as it represents a large geophysical target that could indicate an extension of the South deposit. The significant scale of the anomaly exemplifies the opportunity to further expand mineralization and highlights the considerable exploration upside at MPD. We look forward to drilling this compelling target this year alongside several other priority targets for resource growth and new discovery.”
Kodiak is targeting an updated MRE in the first quarter of 2027, supported by drilling results from the ongoing campaign. Beyond resource expansion, the company also plans to evaluate several of the 36 prospective exploration targets identified across the MPD property, exposing the project’s district-scale exploration potential.
The MPD project is located in southern British Columbia and hosts multiple copper-gold porphyry discoveries. The 2026 exploration program represents one of the company’s most ambitious campaigns to date, combining resource expansion drilling with systematic testing of new targets generated through modern geophysical surveys.
With drilling continuing, assay results pending, and a newly identified exploration target set for testing later this year, Kodiak Copper Corp. enters the second half of 2026 with multiple catalysts that could contribute to future resource growth and further define the scale of its MPD copper-gold project.
Kodiak Copper stock (TSXV:KDK) opened trading 7 per cent higher at $0.74 and though it is down 30 per cent since the beginning of the year, it has risen 15 per cent since this time last year.
