The TSX is up 0.61%, while the TSX Venture Index is higher by 2.09%, as Canadian equities advance on strength in materials and energy with gold pushing back above US$5,000 and oil holding near six‑month highs.

In the U.S., the S&P 500 is up 0.13%, the Dow is down 0.20%, and the Nasdaq is up 0.18% as traders position ahead of the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge and digest softer‑than‑hoped U.S. GDP growth. London’s FTSE 100 is also firmer, up 0.31%, as global sentiment stabilizes after a choppy start to the week.

Commodities are providing a constructive backdrop. Gold gained just over 1% as Middle East tensions and growth worries keep safe‑haven demand in focus, while silver broke out above US$79 after trading in a tight consolidation range.

Oil is slightly lower on the day but still near recent highs as the U.S. warns Iran has only days to reach a deal, and natural gas is modestly higher. Bitcoin has rebounded, rising roughly 0.4% in Canadian‑dollar terms after volatility tied to institutional flows and shifting risk appetite.
