Markets opened lower this morning as Canadian and U.S. equities slipped ahead of a key rate decision. The TSX is down nearly half a percent, while the Venture is off more than 1.5%. In the U.S., the Dow is down 0.11% and the Nasdaq is lower by 0.39% after yesterday’s tech-led gains. London’s FTSE is also weaker.
Commodities are mostly under pressure: copper fell nearly 2%, oil extended losses, and natural gas dropped sharply. Gold held flat, while Bitcoin eased after recent volatility. Investors are watching major corporate moves, including Paramount’s bid to outpace Netflix and Brookfield’s AI joint venture, as well as Teck and Anglo American’s vote on a copper mega-merger.
