Gran Colombia Gold (GCM) director and notable Colombian lawyer Mónica de Greiff Lindo has left the company’s board.

Previously appointed Minister of Justice by President Virgilio Barco Vargas, Mónica chose to leave the company after she was given the new position of Ambassador to Kenya by the Government of Colombia.

As well as acting as a director of Gran Colombia, Mónica was previously vice-president of legal and public affairs for Shell Colombia before becoming CEO of the Bogotá Energy Group.

Most recently, Mónica led the inauguration of a Gran Colombia committee that focused on environmental, health and safety, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, and sustainability.

As Chair of the committee, Mónica oversaw the company’s response to COVID-19 in its operating communities, as the region continue battles with the sustained pressures under the pandemic.

The company’s mines were also hit by the onset of the pandemic and were forced to briefly shutdown earlier this year, impacting its recent production figures, before largely returning to normal operations in recent months.

In her absence the company has chosen to leave her position vacant, until further notice.

Serafino Iacono, Executive Chairman of Gran Colombia, commented on her departure from the company, saying Mónica’s considerable experience and passion will be sincerely missed by the board.

“Ms. De Greiff has made a valuable contribution to the Board of Directors since she was first elected in 2018. We congratulate Ms. De Greiff on her appointment and thank her for her contribution to Gran Colombia’s success over the last couple of years,” he said.

Gran Colombia Gold (GCM) is down 0.63 per cent and is trading at C$6.30 per share at 11:20pm EDT.
